Tourist Spot in Cagayan De Oro City

Cagayan De Oro City:

Cagayan de Oro may very well be the happiest place in the country. The “City of Golden Friendship,” as it is sometimes called, is home to especially friendly and warm Filipinos. Their ready smiles are a fitting welcome, with Cagayan de Oro’s accessible location also making it the “Gateway to Northern Mindanao.”

Cagayan de Oro’s much talked-about whitewater rafting and river trekking make it the premier whitewater destination in the country. The Cagayan de Oro River is famed for challenging rapids that quickly follow one after the other. It’s really an experience like no other and well worth the initial scare. They say the wild river helps you discover your inner strength and endurance. Nice! Character-building fun!

Still not enough thrills for you? Make sure you visit the Macahambus Hill Cave and Gorge. Ask your Tourism officer about the Battle of Macahambus Hill, the first Filipino victory against the Americans. Admire the view from the 120-meter long Sky Bridge suspended 120 feet from the ground, and then take the 120-meter breathtaking zipline.

More action-packed fun awaits you at Jatico Adventures. A five-course zipline, ATV rides, and hiking trails are among the many things on offer.

Not to be missed are the Mapawa Nature Park for its waterfalls, trekking, and rappelling.

It’s not all thrill rides though. What’s a great adventure without culture and heritage?

Understand local customs and traditions at the Museo de Oro. Or acquaint yourself with the people of Northern Mindanao at the Museum of Three Cultures. and the Gardens of Malasag Eco-Tourism Village for its showcase of tribal houses set amidst nature trails.

At the General MacArthur Marker, you’ll learn more about the role played by Cagayan de Oro in history and about US General MacArthur, one of the most important figures of World War II.

Admire the centuries-old stained glass panels of the Gothic St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral. While nearby, the tree-lined Gaston Park is a relaxing haven in the city.

In Cagayan de Oro, the month of August is synonymous with the Kagay-an Festival. This almost two week-long celebration has a carnival-like atmosphere, and is dedicated to its patron, St. Augustine. It’s a full-blast party, with activities such as agricultural trade fairs and a cultural street dancing parade and competition. The highlight of the celebration is the Golden Float Parade. Make sure to bring your shades! The bright colors will dazzle you.

Cagayan de Oro has something for the eco-tourist as well as the sports lover. So, grab your backpacks and head to where nature’s beauty will thrill you. This happy place could very well leave you with a smile on your face.

1.

For 4 hours, you'll be traveling a 360 view of the Plaza Divisoria (the center of trade and commerce in Cagayan de Oro) which most of the businesses are found and where the Freemasonry Centennial Marker is located. Then, you'll be going to the Gaston Park and the St. Augustine Cathedral. There, you'll be amazed of the centennial old gothic inspired cathedral which houses the seat of the Archdiocese of Region 10. After that, you'll be walking on a 20 steps going to the only leaning tower of Cagayan de Oro known as the City Museum. Yes! The Museum is actually leaning on the right same as that of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. What to expect in the Museum? The history of Cagayan de Oro and the people who carefully furnish the city. After knowing the history of Cagayan de Oro, you'll be going to a pasalubong center. What's next? You'll be traversing to the longest street of the City known as the J.R. Borja Street for you to go to the next destination- The Cogon Market! What's the catch about this market is that it houses one of the best Hot Chocolate in the Region called the "Sikwate" or "Tsokolate". You'll also be surprised because you'll be seeing a guy making a hanging rice known for us as "Puso".

Aside of the above-mentioned itineraries, the TK4 also includes Lim Ketkai Center which houses the first Starbucks in Mindanao and first McDonalds outside Metro Manila, La Castilla Museum, Museo de Oro, Gen. MacArthur Marker which houses the largest replica of the cap of General Douglas MacArthur and the Plaza De Los Heroes.

Experience a world class Whitewater Rafting Adventure
- Yes! the main product of the city is its world-class whitewater rafting adventurethat is why Cagayan de Oro is dubbed as theWhitewater Rafting Capital of the Philippines.

Whitewater Rafting Adventure in Cagayan de Oro is a must thing to do while staying in City because.

There are actually 3-4 courses offer in whitewater rafting depending on the company you choose. You'll be enjoying your adventure while learning how to paddle up your adrenaline! From beginner course which is only P700.00 per head, you'll be experiencing a maximum of 3 hours rapid run while beating up the mighty rapids of the Cagayan de Oro River.

The next course is the advance course which will lead you to a maximum of 4 hours rapid run depending on how you do the paddle and the rush. Some whitewater rafting companies offer the advance II course for P1,200 per head which is a bit advanced to the first one.For only P1,000 per head, you'll be experiencing the course (advance 1) and enjoying more great rapids than the beginner course.

The last course is actually not for the faint-hearted individuals but for the enthusiasts and brave-heart travelers that is why is it called the extreme course. For only P2,000 per head, this dare-devil adrenaline adventure will let you experience a real extreme adventure while playing around the mighty rapids of Cagayan River. Plus! don't be surprised to view the fantastic scenic flora and fauna of Cagayan de Oro (of the left side) and Bukidnon (on the right side). I'm pretty sure that you'll be amazed with the gorgeous falls and panoramic views of the river. Dont be worred because there are 3-4 certified guides that will accommodate you through out the 2-3 hours actual rapid run.

Another course that you can actually avail is the Night Whitewater Rafting for P2,000 per pax which has the minimum of 6 person. I'm not suggesting this for everyone especially the faint-hearted but this is a real fmagnificent adventure, extreme than the extreme course. What's the catch of this is that, you'll be playing the mighty world-class rapids of the river by night time. Yes! it's on the evening that is why it called a night whitewater rafting! And yes, this has been experienced by other travelers which is inloved with purely extreme, nerve cracking, fast-breathing adventure.

TIP: If you wanna avail this special adventure called the night whitewater rafting, the best way to experience it is when the moon is on its full bloom- The Full Moon. Don't be afraid of the werewolves and or vampire stories because we're not rich with that folklore rather be blessed because when the moon is on its fullness, the reflection of the river is on its vivid clearance.

So, what are you waiting for? Reserve a slot now!

Touris Spot sa Misamis Oriental

Misamis Oriental:

Inirerekumenda namin Tiklas Falls at Monigue Cave.

Misamis Oriental ding isang espesyal na lugar para sa Katoliko Pilgrim. Ang Divine awa Shrine, na matatagpuan sa El Salvador City, ay may 15 metrong estatwa ng Banal na habag kay Jesus.

1.

Agutayan Island: A must visit in Jasaan, Misamis Oriental, Agutayan Island has 5000 sq meters of fine white sand sitting on a 3 hectare marine sanctuary that serves as breeding ground of giant clams locally called as Taclobo and other marine animals/species. With its shallow- clear water and amazing marine life, the spot is a perfect place for swimming, diving and snorkeling.

2.

Mantangale Alibuag Dive Resort... located in Balingoan, Misamis Oriental, on a spacious lot with a view to the south Bohol Sea and the island of Camiguin. Established in 1994, it is a family run dive resort that has expanded its horizons to include a full range of amenities for a true resort experience. Mild weather, friendly and attentive staff, one of asia's best house reef dives, creature comforts to pamper you... Mantangale is definitely not just a dive resort...take a tour and find out more.

The location of the falls was developed by the city government into an Eco-Tourism Park. The park is well-managed by the local government. The road from entrance going to the resort park is paved, garbage free and sides were planted with different ornamental and non-ornamental flora. Fronting the falls is a public swimming pool and cottages- yes an Eco park! There is a concrete bridge going to the park where you can see the perfect drop of the waterfalls and take photographs. I personally commend the city government and the people of Gingooog City for developing and of course preserving this interesting tourism spot.

Pardon this very late post. I've been in trance between wakening and hibernation. No. I don't do or call it beauty sleep -- for the love of sleep, more than beauty, I call it hibernation! LOL! But there was a weekend intended to spend time with travel blogger friend Doc Wendell that took me out of my weekend bed covers. He delivered a talk during the Business Compendium for the MSU-IIT students. And ofcourse, we had to be there too, but was mostly looking forward to a Sunday off for Initao.

The Lasang Secret Adventure Park is located at Initao, Misamis Oriental and is part of the Initao-Libertad Landscape and Seascape Protected Area. My fond memories of this area was during our sampling days in Biology, armed with sampling bottles and canisters, and other quintessential stuff "biologists" would bring. This was a baby's crib for us, we had a few overnight stays, spelunking adventures, and at lot of skin rashes for me --- but we learned a lot in this fenced up sanctuary.
